Stumbled across this article regarding a new app that analyzes data on how mobile carriers stifle certain apps/content/etc. An interesting read and video!

Among the many concerns people may have when they read this article, one of them that comes to my mind is the idea of telecommunication companies expanding their dominance even further. It is not very hard for them to do this to begin with because we all rely on our phones everyday and phones have arguably become a basic necessity but the ability for other telecommunication companies to come in and bring in competitive rates seems unlikely at this rate. Also, this again really plays into the idea of the lack of privacy we have on social media, not only with location features that track our every move and now mobile carriers controlling what we see but also with what advertisements and recommended sites are suggested to us on websites from Facebook to Google to Instagram.
