In light of the increasing popularity of what are called “deepfakes” online, as well as the various controversies and ethical concerns surrounding them, Amalie, Mo, Grace and I (Jason) will be presenting tomorrow on the deepfake technology and some of the main legal issues around the subject. In particular, we will focus on how deepfakes are currently governed by legislation and common law, as well as some potential causes of action against the authors of deepfake content.
